Gabriele Ruscalla
Biography
Gabriele Ruscalla is a Partner at Le 16 Law, a Paris-based boutique firm dedicated to the resolution of domestic and international disputes. He has over 15 years of experience representing corporations, States, and state entities in international commercial and investment arbitrations across the construction, energy, mining, and corporate sectors. He has acted under all major arbitration rules, including ICC, ICSID, LCIA, SIAC, UNCITRAL, and CCJA. Much of Gabriele’s practice focuses on large-scale infrastructure and energy projects in the Middle East and Africa. These cases often involve complex technical issues and diverse legal systems, from Algerian and Congolese law to the laws of Qatar, Kuwait, the UAE, and Libya. He also represents his clients in arbitration-related litigation before national courts. In addition to his work as counsel, Gabriele regularly serves as arbitrator under the Rules of the ICC, the Swiss Arbitration Center and the Milan Chamber of Commerce, as well as in ad hoc proceedings. From 2015 to 2021, he worked as Counsel at the ICC International Court of Arbitration’s Secretariat, where he oversaw hundreds of cases. Admitted to the Paris Bar, Gabriele studied law and international relations at the University of Milan, the Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne, and Columbia Law School, and holds a Ph.D. in International Law and Economics from Bocconi University in Milan. He practises in English, French, and Italian. He is an active member of several arbitration associations, and regularly speaks and publishes on international arbitration-related subjects.
