Biography

Jeroen Soeteman is President of the Netherlands Bar (NOvA) as of 1 September 2024, together with Sanne van Oers. In this role, he is also member of the general council. Soeteman has been part of the general council since the beginning of 2022, and since 1 January 2024, he has jointly held the position of Vice President with Sanne van Oers. As Bar President, Soeteman’s primary focus areas are the role of the legal profession in the rule of law and the protection of confidentiality. Soeteman has been a criminal lawyer since 1999 and currently practices at Jebbink Soeteman Advocaten in Amsterdam. He is also a guest lecturer in 'Legal tech and the legal profession' at Erasmus University Rotterdam. Previously, he worked at CMS and Korvinus Abeln Advocaten. From 2016 to 2021, he served as chairman of the Dutch Association of Defense Counsel.
