Biography

Simone Lahorgue Nunes is the founding partner of Lahorgue Advogadas Associadas, a law firm specialized in Privacy and Data Protection and Media and Entertainment. She advises clients on compliance with the Brazilian General Data Protection Law (LGPD), Brazil's GDPR-inspired data protection legislation. Her practice also includes assisting clients with international data transfers and a broad range of other data protection and privacy matters under the LGPD. Simone holds the CIPP/E, CIPM, and CDPO/BR certifications from the IAPP. In addition, she serves on the IAPP's Certification Advisory Board (2026–2027) and is a member of the Advisory Board of the Technology Law Committee of the International Bar Association (IBA), where she previously served as Co-Chair from 2015 to 2016. Simone is a professor at FGV Direito Rio, where she teaches Media & Entertainment Law and Privacy & Data Protection. She has a Ph.D. and Master’s degree in Economic Law from Universidade de São Paulo (USP). She is recognized by Chambers and Partners, The Legal 500, and Lexology for her work in Data Protection, Technology, Media & Telecommunications, and Sports Law. She has also authored numerous books, most recently Media and Entertainment Law: A Textbook, published last year.
