Biography

Donia is an energy and projects lawyer based in Cairo, passionate about the environment and climate-focused infrastructure. In 2020, she founded Mazghouny, a boutique law firm focused on energy, infrastructure, and project finance across Egypt and North Africa. Prior to launching the firm, she was a partner at a leading law firm in Cairo, where she headed the Energy & Projects team. She currently serves as Vice-Chair of the International Bar Association’s Power Law Committee. Her practice focuses on renewable energy and Power-to-X projects, including solar, wind, battery storage, green hydrogen and ammonia, and solar desalination. She has advised on: 🔹The first utility-scale industrial P2P power purchase agreement in Egypt 🔹Several of the country’s flagship green hydrogen and ammonia projects 🔹The first green project bond issuance in Egypt, valued at USD 334.5 million Donia's work has been recognised by Chambers and Partners, Legal 500, and Lexology, reflecting a track record of delivering strategic, commercially sound legal solutions in complex and emerging sectors.
