Biography

Pieter Paepe is co-founding partner of EDSON, a Brussels-based law firm with a strong focus on EU and international law, regulatory frameworks, and complex cross-border litigation. He has over 18 years of experience advising governments, listed companies, trade associations, and international clients across a broad range of sectors, including gaming, digital services, media, sports, telecom, pharmaceuticals, and public infrastructure. He has represented clients in high-profile proceedings and landmark rulings before the European Courts and frequently acts in state aid complaints, competition investigations, preliminary ruling procedures, and constitutional and administrative challenges concerning national legislation. His practice also covers legal reforms, the implementation of EU directives, and the design of multi-jurisdictional compliance and litigation strategies. Before co-founding EDSON in 2021, Pieter was a partner at a leading Belgian law firm, having previously gained experience as a senior associate and associate in several international practices. He also spent a number of years as an academic researcher at the Free University of Brussels, where he built a strong foundation in EU law. Pieter is a member of the Association of Belgian Competition Lawyers and of the FIFPro expert group on football transfer matters. He also serves on various legal boards and committees.
