Sofía Tamayo Gutiérrez
Biography
Sofía Tamayo Gutiérrez holds a Master's degree in Economic Law and a Bachelor's degree in Law from the Universidad Panamericana. She is currently the Director of Institutional Relations and Regulatory Affairs at Kino Energía, the largest renewable energy platform in Mexico, with an installed capacity of 1.8 GW. Her responsibilities include the company's public affairs, external communications and compliance with energy, environmental, and social regulations. She has extensive experience in the Mexican energy sector, having worked in both public and private sectors. Sofía has worked at various law firms, in the Legal Affairs Unit of the Energy Regulatory Commission, was part of the founding team of the consulting firm Enix, S.C., and served as the head of Regulatory Affairs at AES Mexico. Before her current position, she was the Director of Corporate Affairs, Regulation, and Social Responsibility at Zuma Energía. She is a member of the Board of Directors of the Mexican Solar Energy Association (ASOLMEX) and is the Lead Coordinator of the Regulatory Strategy Group of the Mexican Wind Energy Association (AMDEE). In academia, Sofía has been an adjunct professor of Comparative Law at the Universidad Panamericana Law School and a guest lecturer on Energy Transition in the Energy Law Specialization at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) Law School. She is a member of Women in Renewable Energy Mexico (MERM) and a member of the 50+1 CDMX Women Collective.
