Biography

Mr. Luis Gabriel Morcillo joined Brigard & Urrutia in 2006 and has been a Partner since 2014. He is a member of the firm’s Capital Markets, Private Equity, ESG and Corporate/M&A Practice Groups. He focuses on cross-border securities offerings, including equity and debt transactions on the Colombian and New York Stock Exchanges, as well as offerings under Rule 144A and Regulation S. He has advised on several of Colombia’s most landmark transactions, including the country’s first dual-listed issuer, first ETF and first simultaneous local and international offering. He is also widely recognized for his work in private equity and asset management, with extensive experience in fund formation, fundraising and cross-border investment strategies. Mr. Morcillo regularly advises financial institutions on fintech, financial services, ESG and corporate governance matters, and plays an active role in the development of Colombia’s impact investing and venture capital ecosystem. He serves as a board member of NAB Colombia for the Global Steering Group (GSG) on Impact Investment. He previously served in the Colombian Army, including as part of the Multinational Force and Observers mission in the Sinai Peninsula, where he was awarded a Medal of Honor.
