Biography

Mathias' main expertise is disputes. He acts for a variety of clients, including insurance carriers, banks, inustrial clients and executive managements. Mathias also has extensive experience representing commodity trading houses and shipping companies. In addition to his dispute work, Mathias acts in respect financing, seizure of assets, distressed companies, forced sales and pursuit of claims worldwide. Mathias is admitted to the Danish Supreme Court and has appeared before the Court in a number of disputes. Mathias is a member of the ICC International Court of Arbitration, of the board for the Danish association of Supreme Court attorneys, the Danish branch of Comité Maritime International (CMI) and he is a member of the council of the SCC Arbitration Institute. Mathias is regularly appointed as arbitrator and has experience as counsel in ICC and LMAA arbitrations as well as ad hoc arbitrations and arbitrations under the rules of the Danish Institute of Arbitration (DIA). Mathias is frequently appointed arbitrator and has been appointed in international disputes under the DIA rules, SCC Rules, LMAA rules, DIAC rules as well as in ad hoc arbitrations. Mathias has been lecturing in contract law and international private law at Copenhagen University School of Law for many years and is a past lecturer of the year at the school of Law. Mathias has further lectured for three years in international trade law and shipping at Copenhagen Business School.
