Biography
I am a full professor of law with tenure at Gonzaga University School of Law, where I hold the J. Donald & Va Lena Scarpelli Curran Professorship in Legal Ethics & Professional Responsibility. I teach criminal law, criminal procedure, and international criminal law along with professional responsibility. My scholarship explores intersections of criminal law, advocacy ethics, technology, and social justice. I have extensive experience in global legal education, having served as Director of Global Legal Education at Gonzaga for several years. I currently serve on the Global Outreach Committee of the Southeastern Association of Law Schools, and also on Board of Governors of the Society of American Law Teachers. I further collaborate on the Legal Italy program through the University of Parma in Italy. I maintain a part-time law practice as appointed defense counsel in federal criminal cases in the United States. This federal practice has included numerous transnational criminal matters involving Canada, Europe, and Latin America, with charged offenses spanning fraud, money laundering, human trafficking, drug trafficking, and conspiracy.
