Tony Budidjaja

Biography

Tony Budidjaja is a highly experienced legal practitioner with nearly 30 years of practice, specialising in cross-border commercial matters, dispute resolution, international trade and maritime, mergers and acquisitions, construction, and insurance. He has served as a mediator and or an arbitrator in various domestic and international commercial cases, and an expert witness in numerous high-stakes litigation and arbitration proceedings. He is widely recognised for his ability to handle complex, high-profile matters for both international and domestic clients. Tony Budidjaja’s social and community involvement 1. Mediation & Arbitration He serves as Chairman of the Indonesian Academy of Independent Mediators and Arbitrators (MedArbId). Additionally, he sits on the Supervisory Board of the Conflict Resolution Unit (CRU) Indonesia, a body that addresses land, natural resources, and community conflict resolution. Also, he is currrently serving as Indonesian Ambassador for ASA (Swiss Arbitration Association). 2. Educating Future Legal Professionals Tony Budidjaja founded the Budidjaja Institute in 2010, a training and apprenticeship center dedicated to preparing fresh law graduates for professional careers. Since its establishment, over 500 law graduates have participated in its programs, which include collaborations with Indonesian and international law schools, law firms, and bar associations. 3. Thought Leadership & Public Advocacy Tony holds leadership roles across several social organizations and professional associations, including Compassion International in Indonesia, Indonesia Christan Legal Society (PPHKI), and Indonesian Council for Christian Stewardship and Accountability (ICCSA). Tony has at times contributed op-ed articles addressing rule of law and various social justice issues in national mass medias.
