Biography

Inês Sequeira Mendes is the Managing Partner at Abreu Advogados and co-head of the firm’s Competition & EU practice. A Partner since 2012, she has built a distinguished career in competition law, advising clients on investment structuring and supporting the development of commercial activities across multiple industries. She is also registered as a lawyer in Timor-Leste and frequently advises on competition matters in Angola and Mozambique. With more than 20 years of experience, Inês covers the full spectrum of competition law, with particular expertise in multi-jurisdictional merger control, cartel and abuse of dominance cases, restrictive agreements and practices, as well as the design, implementation, and enhancement of compliance programs—spanning structural, auditing, and training phases. She also provides legal counsel on sectoral regulatory frameworks and regularly represents clients before the Portuguese Competition Authority and sector-specific regulators. Her extensive practice spans a wide range of industries, with a strong focus on healthcare, energy, transportation, retail, education, media, distribution, and aeronautics.
