Ponora Ang

Biography

Ponora Ang is national co-leader of the Firm’s Asia-Pacific practice group and a leading civil and commercial litigator, who has litigated many different and complex matters before various courts. Ponora advises and represents clients primarily in the areas of manufacturer liability, sales and leasing, real estate, construction law, commercial leasing and shareholder/investor disputes. He is regularly asked to represent the interests of manufacturers, producers, distributors and sellers in the automotive, medical, security, consumer product and aviation industries. Ponora also routinely provides advice to and acts on behalf of real estate developers and commercial property owners regarding their projects and transactions. In addition to his litigation practice, Ponora’s advice on investing in Canada is highly sought after by companies based primarily in the Asia-Pacific region and Southeast Asia. He regularly advises state-owned enterprises, private companies and individuals from Asia seeking to expand their business activities in Canada. He is a frequent speaker in both Canada and Asia on legal considerations for foreign investment in Canada. In 2023, he was awarded the Medal of the National Assembly of Québec in recognition of the numerous ways he has been engaged in the community for many years.
