Biography

Neil is co-head of G+T’s M&A/Corporate group. He is also a member of G+T’s board of partners. Neil is also a member of the Federal Government’s Takeovers Panel (the primary forum for resolving takeover disputes) and a Senior Fellow at the University of Melbourne Law School. His practice centres on M&A (with particular expertise in listed company takeovers and cross-border acquisitions), private equity transactions, equity capital raisings and corporate governance matters. Neil is recognised as a leading Australian M&A lawyer by all leading directories including Chambers Global, International Who’s Who of M&A Lawyers Best Lawyers and The Legal 500. Significant transactions Neil has advised on 2019 include AB Inbev’s $16bn sale of Carlton & United Breweries to Asahi (the largest M&A deal in Australian in 2019), DuluxGroup’s $4.2bn acquisition by Nippon Paint (the largest Australian public company takeover by a strategic/trade buyer in 2019) and BGH Capital consortium’s $2.1bn acquisition of Navitas by scheme of arrangement (the largest take private by an Australian PE fund).
