John Walton

Biography

John Walton is a construction law specialist, arbitrator and commercial mediator. John practises out of Bankside Chambers, in Auckland, New Zealand and Maxwell Chambers in Singapore. Previous projects include the Hong Kong port and airport development project (acting for the Government of Hong Kong), the Nairobi emergency power project (acting for the Government of Kenya), energy, water, wastewater, ICT and super yacht projects in New Zealand. John is a Fellow of CIArb, a Fellow of AMINZ, a Fellow of AiADR, a Fellow of the International Academy of Mediators, an Honorary Life Member of the Society of Construction Law (NZ) and an overseas member of the Society of Construction Arbitrators. He was also the President of AMINZ from 2015-2018, co-Vice Chair of the Sydney ICCA Congress 2018 and host of the AMINZ-ICCA International Arbitration Day in Queenstown in 2018. During his time as President, John drafted the AMINZ Arbitration Rules.
