Biography

Professor Erika J. Techera (LLB (Hons), MEnvL, LLM, PhD) is Dean of Law, University of Western Australia and member of the UWA Oceans Institute. Erika teaches and researches in a range of international and comparative environmental law areas including marine environmental governance, fisheries and migratory species, legal frameworks for marine protected areas, as well as cultural heritage law. She is the author of over 50 papers and books. She was formerly Director of the Centre for Environmental Law and Co-Director of the Centre for Climate Futures at Macquarie University, Sydney. Erika also practiced as a barrister and is a Fellow of the Australian Academy of Law. She was awarded the Australian Law Award 2016 - Academic of the Year.
