Biography

I am an accomplished legal professional with over 25 years of experience in international law, regulatory matters, and complex dispute resolution. With a career spanning government service, international organizations, and private practice, I have developed a reputation for strategic thinking, result-focussed legal advice, and the ability to successfully manage high-stakes, cross-border matters. My expertise lies in resolving complex international disputes -- whether through de-escalation strategies, litigation, arbitration, mediation, or negotiation. I have represented both States and private entities in high-profile trade and investment cases and advised on critical regulatory and compliance matters affecting a wide range of industries, including pharmaceuticals and other highly-regulated products, technology, and financial services. I have worked on subject matter ranging from disputes about standard-essential patents through to international law advisory opinion proceedings concerning climate change. In addition to my work as an advocate, I am available to serve as an arbitrator, bringing a wealth of experience in international trade, investment, and commercial disputes. I am listed on the WTO Indicative List of Panellists, the EU List of Chairs for Disputes under EU Trade Agreements, and WIPO’s list of neutrals. I also hold key roles in professional organizations, such as the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb) and the International Bar Association (IBA), reflecting my commitment to the development of international arbitration and legal practice.
