Biography

I am a Partner in Fieldfisher's Hamburg office and specialise in advising on technology, data protection and IT law. I have more than 25 years of experience in these areas and advise my clients in all legal areas covered by IT and digitalisation, in particular in international data protection law and in the area of data economy, IT contract law as well as in legal issues relating to cybersecurity, IT security and e-commerce. My clients include technology companies, the public sector and, in particular, international life science companies. My advice covers legal issues in connection with digitalisation processes and the establishment of data apaces and data sharing as well as the use of new technologies such as artificial intelligence, blockchain and big data. I am constantly involved with current developments in thechanging regulatory framework of the internet and technology sector in Germany and Europe. Among other things, I recently advised the German Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology on the development of the European cloud and data project "Gaia-X". I am co-editor of the law journal "Law of the Digital Economy - Recht der digitalen Wirtschaft (ZdiW)" and I am Chairman of the Board of the Association of the Internet Industry (https://international.eco.de). I am also a member of the Board of Trustees of the German Foundation for International Legal Cooperation (www.irz.de) and a member of the Advisory Board of the Mobility Data Space (www.mobility-dataspace.eu).
