Amir Pasrich


Amir Singh Pasrich is presently a Member of the IBA’s LPD Council and the Bar Issues Commission Policy Committee. He helped set up the IBA’s India Working Group, or “IWG”, and is presently Chair of its India Advisory Board. Amir has been a regular speaker and moderator at IBA annual conferences since 1997 having chaired or spoken in about 45 sessions. He has attended the IBA Council representing India. As former Co-Chair of the International Sales Committee (now the Intl. Commerce & Distribution Committee), he has worked domestic and cross-border projects for the development of the law. Pasrich organized three J.B.Dadachanji Memorial Debates in New Delhi as keynote speaker with luminaries like the present Attorney General of India, the Solicitor General of India, a sitting Judge of the Supreme Court and the former Minister of External Affairs. He has worked closely with several of India’s senior law officers and is piloting a project to tackle the problem of mounting arrears in Indian Courts, he has nicknamed it the “Pendency Pandemic”. Pasrich has written several articles on this subject. As a commercial litigator, Pasrich is a known lead counsel for complex high value international Commercial Arbitration specializing in tenders, procurement disputes, engineering contract disputes and related litigation. He has also led arguments in competition cases successfully pursuing actions or defences for industry-wide issues in sectors like insurance, aviation and real estate. He has regularly argued matters before the Supreme Court of India and before several High Courts. He is Honorary Legal Advisor to the British High Commissioner, counsel to the Canadian High Commission and to the Ambassador of France. He has handled a wide range of international advisory work. Pasrich has acted as outside general counsel for companies like Air France, KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, Turkish Airlines and Fabindia Overseas Pvt. Ltd. He presently acts as legal counsel for Swiss International and British Airways. Pasrich has a law degree from the University of Oxford and a Bachelor’s degree in Science from St. Stephens’ College, Delhi University. He is an alumnus of the Doon School and a member of the Indian Public Schools’ Society. He is also Honorary Secretary of the Study School Society. He was mentored by an IBA recognized "Living Legend of Law" - Mr. J. B. Dadachanji from 1992-1996. Pasrich is Vice-President of the Oxford & Cambridge Society of India and Chair of the PHD Chamber of Commerce & Industry Expeditious Access to Justice & Contract Enforcement Forum. He earlier chaired the PHDCCI Law & Justice Committee. He has been an advisor or reporter for the World Bank’s Doing Business Project for several years and has been recognised by Chambers, Legal 500 and Who’s Who Legal. Pasrich enjoys playing squash and polo on horseback, he is a keen swimmer and likes walking in the hills. He is married with two daughters. [updated February 2022]
