Nantina Tsekeri

Biography

Ms. Nantina Tsekeri is a human rights lawyer with an academic and practical specialization on Refugee Law and International Children’s Rights Law. She is a strong advocate of children’s rights , child rights expert and strategic litigator before EU Institutions and the United Nations. Nantina is the Vice President of the European Child Friendly Justice Network based in Brussels. In 2019 Nantina was awarded with the prestigious CHILD10 Swedish Award for her commitment and work with the refugee children ‘With her strong child-rights perspective she is a role-model for children’s rights advocates and lawyers all over the world’ https://child10.org/nantina-tsekeris/. In 2016, she founded the Greek Section of the International Non Governmental Organization ‘Defence for Children International –Greece (DCI-Greece)’ which offers direct holistic protection services to the children on the move, as well as, research, advocacy and capacity building services to other professionals. In 2021 Nantina established the Human Rights Academy under the umbrella of DCI Greece where young professionals and legal practitioners have the chance to receive high level training on different areas of Human Rights Law and Practice. Nantina has hold various positions in the past, varying from Amnesty International, Gramnet Research Center, as well as, UNHCR and Greek Asylum Appeals Authority focusing always on the field of human rights and migration. Nantina holds an LLM in International Human Rights Law and International Criminal Justice and she is conducting a PhD on the Best Interests of the Child principle in the context of the existing Refugee and Human Rights Law.
