Biography

Teresa is a member of the M&A and Corporate Governance Practice Areas of Uría Menéndez’s Madrid office and is responsible for the firm’s Pharmaceutical & Healthcare Practice Area. Teresa joined the firm in 1992. She was based in the London office in 1994 and 1995, and became a partner in 2002. Between 2003 and 2005, Teresa headed the Communication, Health and IP Practice Group of the Barcelona office. Teresa focuses her professional practice on corporate, commercial and M&A matters. She has extensive experience in regulatory and corporate and commercial matters in several regulated sectors, and especially in the pharmaceutical and mass media industries. Teresa has received recognition for her work from Chambers Global, Chambers Europe, PLC Which Lawyer? Yearbook (Spain) and IFLR 1000, most notably in corporate and M&A transactions in the life science and new technologies sectors. In 2009, Teresa received an Outstanding Achievement Award at the Iberian Lawyer 40 under Forty Awards. In January 2018, Teresa Paz-Ares was recognised as one of the 50 most inspiring women in the Iberian legal sector for her professional career, and in particular for her leadership, technical expertise and mentoring skills.
