Alexandra Manea
Biography
Alexandra Manea is Counsel in the World Bank’s Office of Suspension and Debarment, which is the first tier of the Bank’s two-tiered adjudicative sanctions system. Ms. Manea assists the Chief Suspension and Debarment Officer with reviewing accusations of fraud, corruption and collusion against respondent firms and individuals brought by the Bank’s Integrity Vice Presidency, and with determining whether to sanction a respondent. Previously, she worked in the Bank’s Legal Vice Presidency on enhancing the transparency of Africa’s mining sector and mainstreaming anti-corruption provisions in mining laws across the continent. Before joining the Bank, Ms. Manea was a private sector attorney in Romania and legal expert for the Romanian National Anti-Corruption Strategy for 2012-2015. She holds a PhD in International Criminal Law, completed in a joint program at University “TM” of Bucharest in Romania, Hebrew University of Jerusalem in Israel and American University in the US with a Fulbright scholarship. She has published several papers on anti-corruption efforts across jurisdictions and corporate liability for transnational corruption.
