Benedict Bleicher

Biography

Benedict Bleicher is in charge of global competition law in Rio Tinto, based in London. Benedict has held roles in private practice (Clifford Chance, Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton), in house (BT and BBC Worldwide) and with the CMA. Benedict has extensive experience in all areas of EC and UK competition law. In private practice, Benedict advised on numerous global mergers and provided behavioural advice with a focus on mining and financial services. At BT Worldwide and BBC, Benedict was involved in telecoms, competition and media regulation. In addition, Benedict has created and ran global compliance programmes in the field of antitrust and anti-corruption/anti-bribery. Outside of Rio Tinto, Benedict sits on the Legal Committee of the Aluminium Stewardship Initiative, co-chairs the In-house Competition Lawyers Association (ICLA) in the UK and is a member of the Competition Policy Working Group of the European Round Table of Industrialists (ERT).
