Matthew Harris

Biography

Matthew Harris is a founding partner of Global Infrastructure Partners (GIP) and is based in New York. Matthew’s responsibilities include strategic relationships and transactions for GIP as well as global energy industry investment activities including crude oil and refined product, natural gas, electricity, LNG, petrochemicals and metals and mining. He is a member of the Executive Committee of GIP and of its Investment and Portfolio Valuation Committees. Matthew has been intimately involved in GIP’s investment, management and strategic activities since its formation in 2006. He is a member of the Board of Directors of Enlink Midstream, LLC, Freeport LNG, LLC and Hess Infrastructure Partners, LLC. GIP is an independent infrastructure fund manager that combines deep industry expertise and relationships with industrial best practice operational management. GIP was founded in 2006 to invest in high quality infrastructure assets and businesses in the energy, transportation and water and waste sectors, each an area in which GIP has a depth of experience and longstanding relationships. GIP manages approximately $68.0 billion for its investors. Additionally, the companies in GIP’s investment portfolio have combined annual revenues greater than $51.0 billion and employ approximately 67,000 people. Prior to the formation of GIP in 2006, Matthew was a Managing Director in the Investment Banking Department at Credit Suisse. Most recently, he was Co-Head of the Global Energy Group and Head of the EMEA Emerging Markets Group. Prior to this, Matthew was a senior member of the Mergers and Acquisitions Group and served as Co-Head of Americas Mergers and Acquisitions. Previously, he was a senior member of the Mergers and Acquisitions Group at Kidder Peabody & Co. Incorporated. Matthew is an energy industry investment specialist having worked on over 150 transactions during his career aggregating in excess of $250 billion. During this time, he has worked on many significant transactions in the United States, Canada and Mexico, Western Europe, Central and Eastern Europe, Russia and the former Soviet Union, the Middle East and Australasia. Matthew holds a B.A. in Political Science (cum laude) from the University of California at Los Angeles. He is a member of the Board of Advisors/Directors of the Chopra Foundation, the Columbia University Center for Global Energy Policy (Executive Committee Chairman) and the World Wildlife Fund.
