Description

The recent corporate scandals of corruption in Latin America and their impact in the value of the involved companies have given increased relevance to corporate governance principles. In addition, new regulations have appeared to encourage a more active participation of shareholders in corporate management. This panel will discuss recent trends on how companies are dealing with these issues, what actions they have taken and what regulations have been passed, or are discussed to being passed, to prevent similar cases. The panel will also argue about the role that independent directors and institutional investors play in being corporate monitors of the best interest of their companies.
