5th Annual Corporate Governance Conference

6 Dec - 7 Dec 2018

Session information

PR and IR for listed companies in crisis situations

Thursday 6 December (1630 - 1800)

Description

A listed company that suddenly finds itself in a crisis situation faces huge challenges in terms of public relations (PR) and investor relations (IR). To weather the storm, the company and its board need to navigate a complex landscape shaped by ad hoc securities disclosure requirements, critical media coverage and fallout effects within various groups of stakeholders. In these circumstances, it is key for a company to control adequately the narrative vis-à-vis investors and in the public domain within the constraints of the applicable legal requirements. The speakers on this panel bring together experience and expertise in the fields of public relations, corporate communications and law to discuss this landscape. Drawing from a wide range of examples across various jurisdictions, the panel will talk about the lessons that can be learned from these examples and whether good options for PR and IR in crisis situations might exist after all.
