Financing maritime ventures

Committee(s)

Maritime and Transport Law Committee (Lead)
Maritime and Aviation Law Section

Description

Maritime finance has expanded beyond the traditional bank finance and bonds/capital market models and we now see a myriad of alternative sources of funding, including joint venture structures and/or private equity, lease financing from traditional and non-traditional sources, export credit supported arrangements, and bundling and securitising of loans to maritime enterprises. This session will discuss the methods, sources and difficulties for financing complex maritime ventures and the legal issues they present, with a focus on the special issues relating to financing offshore projects.
