Maritime and Transport Law Conference: Opportunities and Risks in Shipping in 2019
20 May - 22 May 2019
Session information
Committee(s)
Maritime and Transport Law Committee
(Lead)
Maritime and Aviation Law Section
Description
The resolution of contractual disputes through arbitration is well established in shipping matters, but the procedures and practices prevailing in the main arbitration venues are not so well known. The session will focus on a comparative discussion of the key issues in arbitration practice and procedure, as addressed in London, New York, the Nordics (Nordic Offshore and Maritime Arbitration Association rules) and Singapore. The format will be a ‘shark tank’ approach, where advocates for each system will present their case to a panel of ‘sharks’, who will question and probe the presenter.
