Breakout session 10: New suitors, new playbooks: Asia and the Middle East in Latin America
Tuesday 16 March (1600 - 1700)
Description
China’s expanding footprint in Latin America, alongside Gulf sovereign wealth funds and family offices that have accelerated into the region only in the last three years, is opening a genuinely new capital corridor into energy, agribusiness, fintech and critical infrastructure. This panel looks at deal practice, screening and approval regimes, joint venture and governance expectations and the cultural dimension of these transactions set against Canada’s much longer-established role as one of the region’s most consistent institutional investors, particularly in mining and infrastructure.
