The IBA Women Lawyers’ Committee is proud to present a breakfast session where attendees will hear from a prominent speaker about the state of human rights and equality. Participants will also be able to network, engage, share knowledge and develop business opportunities.

Flavia Piovesan was nominated by the Organization of American States to be Commissioner for the Inter-American Commissioner of Human Rights in the years of 2018 to 2021. Flavia is a PhD Professor and a Professor of Constitutional Law, as well as a Professor of Human Rights. She has conducted research for Harvard Law School, Oxford University and Max Planck Institute for Comparative Public Law and International Law. Flavia Piovesan has also worked as Special Secretary of Human Rights in Brazil and chaired the National Commission for the Eradication of Slave Labour. She is the author of numerous academic publications and has worked as a consultant for international organizations.
