About the Committee
Insurance is present in every facet of commercial, industrial and private life. Lawyers practising in many different fields encounter insurance and its problems and can greatly benefit from the knowledge which membership of this Committee provides.
The Committee aims to provide its members, and the Division as a whole, with information about developments in insurance and reinsurance law and markets throughout the world as well as with specialist knowledge to assist in the efficient solution of practical insurance problems. New insurance products are also brought to the attention of members.

The Covid-19 global pandemic has caused disruptions to economies around the world and it is no surprise that the South African economy has not been spared. While the most devastating effects of the disease have been the number of infections (over 38 million worldwide) and number of deaths (over one million), its economic consequences cannot be understated.
Since early March 2020, Canada’s federal and provincial insurance regulators have implemented a series of significant initiatives in response to the Covid-19 pandemic, and have also been making appropriate operational adjustments.
