Biography

Carlo Pavesio is a co-founder and the Senior Partner of Pavesio Studio Legale. Prior to his current role he was one of the co-founders and partners of Brosio, Casati e Associati (established on 1 July 1990) and was a partner of Allen & Overy from 1998, when the two firms merged, until 31 December 2006. His experience is mainly focused on contentious and non-contentious matters, in corporate and contractual law advising domestic and international clients. He specializes in mergers & acquisitions, joint ventures and corporate reorganization as well as in connection with generation transfers, governance and trust. He also has specific arbitration and litigation expertise. He has authored a number of articles and given several lectures on international contract law, corporate and family governance, arbitration. He served as director of several listed and non-listed companies and he is currently a director of: Società Reale Mutua di Assicurazioni (and Chairman of the Group Sustainability Committee), Italiana Assicurazioni S.p.A., Banca Reale S.p.A. (Chairman), Reale International S.r.l.; BasicNet S.p.A. (listed company), Marco Boglione e Figli S.r.l. (Chairman); Fenera Holding S.p.A.; Farmaceutici Procemsa S.p.A. (Vice Chairman); Tosetti Value SIM S.p.A.; Big Five S.r.l.; Ersel Investimenti S.p.A. and Sabelt S.p.A.. He is a member of the Steering Committee of the Consulta per la Valorizzazione dei Beni Artistici e Culturali di Torino (Council for the Enhancement of the Artistic and Cultural Heritage of Turin) and of the Auditing Board of the Fondazione Piemontese per l’Oncologia (Piedmont Oncology Foundation). He is a member of the Consiglio di Indirizzo Etico e dei Valori Associativi (Board of Ethics and Associative Values) of Confindustria. He is a member and contact person of the Commissione per la Composizione Negoziata della Crisi d’Impresa – Regione Piemonte (Commission for the Negotiated Settlement of Business Crises - Piedmont Region), appointed by the Turin Chamber of Commerce. He is Chairman of the Piedmont Arbitration Chamber. He is Honorary Consul of the Republic of Panama. He is a member of AIDA – Associazione Internazionale di Diritto delle Assicurazioni (International Association of Insurance Law) – Piedmont and Valle d’Aosta section and of the Council for the United States and Italy. Carlo Pavesio gained his J.D. degree in 1979 from the University of Turin where he graduated magna cum laude and recommendation for publication and an LL.M. from the London School of Economics in 1980. He was a trainee at the Legal Service of the EU Commission in Brussels in 1980-1981 and a "Visiting Foreign Lawyer" with Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher in New York in 1985-1986. He is a member of the Turin Bar and admitted to practice before the Corte di Cassazione (the Italian Supreme Court).
