Biography
I represent U.S. and international technology and other clients in transactional matters, principally private mergers and acquisitions, private securities transactions and corporate finance, and choice, organization and governance of business entities. Clients also seek my counsel in commercial matters such as data transfer and privacy, licensing and development of technology (particularly software as a service), employment, distribution and supply, asset-based lending, commercial mortgage lending, leasing and conveyance of commercial real estate, and international trade and financing. My clients include fintech and telepathology companies, manufacturers of specialty chemicals, global conglomerates engaged in mining and manufacturing, private equity funds, among others. Prior to practicing law, I was an international business executive, first in New Delhi, India, and then in New York City. As an international business executive, I traveled to and did business in various countries. I bring to my practice my experience as a successful global businessman. As a lawyer, I help clients create wealth and make sound business decisions. I am often the lawyer of choice for private transactions (below about $150 m) between India and the United States. My clients also lean on me for help in resolving business disputes. In that role, I work with my firm’s litigation teams and make sure that clients priorities drive the outcome in a personalized setting. I've been a member of the New York State Attorney Grievance Committee (First Department, 2021-26). I've held and hold various leadership positions in local and national bar associations. Notably, with the New York City Bar Association (Board of Directors, 2020-24), and the American Bar Association (Presidential Appointment to Editorial Board of the ABA/ Bloomberg Law Lawyers’ Manual on Professional Conduct, 2022-25; Presidential Appointment to the Standing Committee on International Trade in Legal Services (2024-27); Member to ABA Council, Section of Science and Technology (2024-27); Chair, India Committee (2019-2022); Chair, ABA Legal Practice, Ethics & Delivery of Legal Services Division (2022); Chair, ABA Asia Pacific Division (2026-2027), and Vice Chair, ABA Cloud Computing Committee (2022-26). I am a Life Fellow of the American Bar Foundation. On a private level, I was instrumental in replicating Shikharji, Jainism’s most important place of pilgrimage, over 120-acres of land at Siddhachalam, New Jersey, and am currently engaged in founding Siddhachal Bahubali Tirth pilgrimage there. I am an Honorary Trustee of Siddhachalam and have in the past served as its President. I frequently speak at business and law conferences in the U.S. and abroad and have chaired several continuing legal education and other programs.
