Biography

Pirkka-Marja Põldvere is a partner at LEADELL Pilv Law Office, Tallinn, Estonia. Her main fields of practice are dispute resolution and corporate law. P.-M. Põldvere is considered to be one of the best arbitration specialists in Estonia, participating in international and domestic arbitrations both as counsel and as arbitrator. In 2022 Chambers Europe noted: “A source describes her arbitration know-how as the best combination of academic knowledge and practical experience.” In 2017 she was designated by the Republic of Estonia to serve on the Panel of Arbitrators maintained by ICSID (2017-2023). As of February 2019, she is a member of the Board of the Arbitration Court of the Estonian Chamber of Commerce and Industry. As of 2022 she is a member of SCC Arbitrators' Council. She has also been appointed by ICC Estonia to the ICC Commission on Arbitration and ADR (being head of the Estonian delegation). She has written commentaries on ca 2/3 of the paragraphs on arbitration to the comprehensive book "Code of Civil Procedure. III. Annotated Edition" (2018), which essentially form commentaries to the Estonian arbitration law. She is also regularly lecturing and writing articles on arbitration and participating in the arbitration-related legislative process. She is a graduate of the University of Tartu, Faculty of Law (Estonia; 2002), and holds a degree of Master of Laws in International Commercial Arbitration Law (LL.M) from Stockholm University (2004).
