Silvester Tinotenda Chiware
Biography
Silvester Tinotenda Chiware is a Judicial Officer working as a Magistrate with the Judicial Service Commission at the Norton Magistrate Court in the Harare North Province, Zimbabwe. He presides over both civil and criminal case roll as well as appeals from the community court at the lower court. He holds a Bachelor of Laws Honors Degree from Herbert Chitepo School of Law at Great Zimbabwe University where he graduated in November 2024. He graduated from the Judicial Training Institute of Zimbabwe (JTIZ) in March 2026. Silvester is a member of the International Bar Association in the Human Rights Law Committee, the African Regional Forum and the Judges Forum. He is also a scholar of the Judges Forum (2026) and attended the IBA Annual Conference 2026 in Toronto, Canada as such. Silvester has been part of teams that have been successful on various moot court competitions during his university days. He was part of the team that won the prestigious 22nd All Africa International Humanitarian Law Moot Court in Arusha, Tanzania before the International Residual Mechanism for Criminal Tribunals. He has also won various national moot court competitions including Transparency International Zimbabwe Moot Court Competition on Business and Human Rights. Outside the professional landscape, Silvester is passionate about mentoring young lawyers, listening to podcasts and reading novels.
