Gerwin Van Gerven
Biography
Gerwin Van Gerven is a partner with Linklaters LLP, in its Brussels office. He has over 25 years’ experience in representing clients in antitrust regulatory investigations, litigation and counseling in a broad range of sectors. He has assisted clients in filings and investigations around the world and advises on global antitrust compliance and strategies. On the merger side, Gerwin’s recent cases include J&J/Synthes, Vodafone/Telefonica/EE, US Airways/American Airlines, Intel/Altera, Sherwin-Williams/Valspar, AB InBev/SABMiller and Energizer/Spectrum. On the non-merger side, his work has included cartel investigations and other conduct investigations. Recent cartel defence work includes TV and Computer Tubes, Automotive Parts and Cosmetics (Belgium). He has also been involved in the Microsoft, Intel and Google investigations, as well as in one of the Commission’s reverse payment cases, and has represented clients in several of the EU market investigations. Gerwin is consistently named in directories as one of the leading competition lawyers. He has been a non-government advisor for the International Competition Network (ICN) since its early days. He has written and spoken extensively on European and international antitrust law. He graduated in law and economics from the University of Leuven and from Harvard Law School.
