Mexico Visa requirements

  • If you intend to attend the IBA Annual Conference in Mexico City and require a visa to enter Mexico, we advise that you register for the conference as early as possible to receive your visa support letter and maximise the time for visa applications to be processed.
  • On payment of your delegate fee, the IBA will issue a visa letter confirming your registration at the conference to support your visa application.
  • It is very important that participants who need a visa to enter Mexico apply and book their visa appointment as soon as possible at the appropriate Mexican visa section.
  • When a visa is issued, the visa is valid for entry into Mexico for 6 months.
  • Mexican Consulates do not handle rapid-process or short notice visa requests, so late applications are unlikely to be successful.
  • Immigration lawyers cannot ensure obtaining a visa for entry into Mexico in time for the Conference if the visa is not requested in advance.
  • The IBA has written to relevant Mexican ambassadors and consulates explaining the importance of the IBA Conference to be held in Mexico City and asking for their support in the visa application process for IBA delegates. We have been informed that Mexican embassies and consulates will not give preferential treatment to IBA delegate’s applications and that all visa applications are considered individually on their own merits.
  • Some consulates have considerable waiting times to grant appointments, particularly the Mexican Consulate in India
