The Developing Role of Funds and Private Equity in Upstream Oil and Gas

Energy, Environment, Natural Resources and Infrastructure Law Section (SEERIL) (Lead)
European Regional Forum

This session will consider that ways in which the established order of the upstream oil and gas community is changing to accommodate the arrival of those with different outlooks and models for their businesses. Of particular significance are funds and private equity businesses which bring a different approach to investment and risk, as well as to their relations with governments, partners and lenders. A part of the upstream oil and gas sector in the US for some time now, these entities have more recently moved towards Europe, initially in relation to upstream facilities interests and now in relation to producing and even exploration interests.
