Description
Blockchain promises to be the most important technological development in business practices since the internet. Blockchain has already spurred the use of various digital assets, such as bitcoin and ethereum; ‘smart contracts’ designed, in part, to streamline transactions by eliminating intermediaries; and novel ways to identify and trace ownership of assets. While blockchain has many useful purposes, it also poses new and significant challenges for lawyers, especially insolvency lawyers. To address these challenges, insolvency lawyers will have to understand the mechanics of of the technology. There will be a presentation on blockchain on Monday and Tuesday. The speakers will begin with the assumption that the audience has no knowledge of this technology before progressing to more complex subjects.
