Description

Sanctions and embargoes Sanctions and embargoes are coercive measures which serve different socio-economical and public purposes. Today, sanctions have been and continue to be used to coerce states to conform to international commitments. This session will focus primarily on the political and economic impact of sanctions and embargos in commercial life. Sanctions impact contracts between private parties which often leads to disputes over the performance of contractual obligations. Is it simply a matter of contract drafting and definition of force majeure? The session will discuss practices to best possibly minimize any contractual risks and challenges in and after court proceedings, if sanctions apply.
