IBA Bar Seminar hosted by the Moscow Bar Association: the role of the bar in ensuring fairness in assignment of public defence cases
Wednesday 27 October (0800 - 0900)
Recording now available
The Moscow Bar Association has recently developed an Automated Information System. It is a unique electronic platform serving primarily, but not only for appointment of public defence cases to the members of the Moscow Bar. Implementing this system has put an end to a long-standing problem of bypassing the standard procedure by lawyers executing orders of investigative authorities.
By sharing and organising information online, courts, investigation authorities, the bar association and lawyers themselves can provide more quality for less time and ensure fairness in assigning public defence cases.
Being the only bar association in Russia and the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) with such an experience, in this session we would like to share it and discuss sensitive disciplinary matters connected with implementing modern technologies in everyday life of lawyers, including the role of bar associations in making the case for change. All sessions are being recorded, unless otherwise stated.
