IBAHRI condemns the persecution and sentencing of Egyptian human rights defender Bahey eldin Hassan

The International Bar Association’s Human Rights Institute (IBAHRI) condemns the arrest of Bahey eldin Hassan, prominent Egyptian human rights defender and Director of the Cairo Institute for Human Rights Studies (CIHRS), following his critical comments against the Public Prosecutor in Egypt. Mr Hassan was sentenced, in absentia, on September 19 2019 to three years’ imprisonment and a fine of 20,000 Egyptian pounds.
