Biography

PRACTICE AREAS He has been engaged in the practice of labor (both collective and individual), employment, and social security law, and is a trial lawyer, as well as a strategist and counselor. MEMBER OF ASSOCIATIONS Has been member of the board of directors of the Barra Mexicana (Mexican Bar Association). Is also member of the Ilustre y Nacional Colegio de Abogados de México (Illustrious and National College of Lawyers of Mexico), the Asociación Nacional de Abogados de Empresa (National Association of In-house Counsel), the American Bar Association and the Federación Interamericana de Abogados (Inter-American Bar Association) (FIA). He is also a member of the board of director of the FIA and President of the Labor and Social Security Law Committee. President of the Inter-American Bar Association from 2008 through 2009. Active member of the labor and employment law committees in all of the above-mentioned associations. He was coordinator of the labor and employment and social security committee of the Mexican Bar Association. PROFESSIONAL BACKGROUND Has given conferences for different associations and chambers of commerce in the fields of labor and constitutional law. Was a 2011 pro bono award recipient from the Mexican Bar Association for his dedication to serving the community in labor and employment matters. Jorge De Presno is one of the country’s leading labor lawyers. PUBLICATIONS Is the co-author of a book published by the Mexican Bar Association entitled “Falta de liquidez de las empresas y sus consecuencias jurídicas” (Lack of Companies’ Liquidity and its Legal Consequences). Contributed a chapter on Mexico for ABA’s International Practitioner's Deskbook Series: International Labor and Employment Law, A Practical Guide (June 1, 2006). EDUCATION Obtained his law degree from Universidad Iberoamericana. Is the author of the professional thesis entitled: "Los conflictos colectivos de titularidad" (Collective Disputes on Union Certification”) in 1986. Obtained a master’s degree in “Comparative Jurisprudence" from the Dickinson School of Law in Carlisle, Pennsylvania, U.S.A. Is the author of the mater in law thesis entitled; "Conflicts of Law, Jurisdiction and Mexican Law" in 1988. ACADEMIC EXPERIENCE Professor of Social Security Law at the Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico City (1985-1986), Collective Labor Law and Labor Procedural Law at the Universidad Panamericana in Mexico City (1988-1990) and Collective Labor Law at the Universidad Iberoamericana (1991-2010).
