Audio and videoconferencing has long been an option for connecting parties, witnesses, experts, arbitrators and counsel in geographically distant locales. Virtually all arbitrations involve the use of ‘dial-in’ numbers to host conference calls, but fewer arbitrations take advantage of videoconferencing.
Product liability in the 21st century - EU, US and elsewhere: Potential impacts on product liability due to the changes of the legal framework.
The session provides a perspective on a number of normative and policy issues pertaining to product liability, in particular, but not limited to,
• achievement of the current product liability system’s stated goal of restituting injured parties;
• incentivisation to produce safe products;
• raising the level of product safety;
• balancing the need for improved product safety and the need for new products;
• dealing with the cost of litigation, in particular, costs associated with mass torts; and
• last, but not least, limiting the side effects of enormous judgments in isolated cases.
The session will also take a look at efforts to better regulate the often conflicting or at least competing objectives of the manufacturers on one hand and the safety expectations of the injured parties.

A new case study jointly published this week by eyeWitness to Atrocities, founded by the International Bar Association (IBA), and partners highlights reports of less visible attacks inflicted on civilian populations and health care professionals in Russian-occupied territories of Ukraine.
This session aims to explore the developing legal landscape of the intersection of ESG and product liability by considering the following:
- business disclosure, branding, or marking alleged inadequate, improper and misleading claims;
- regulatory direction, guidance, and enforcement on ESG claims and product compliance;

India's aviation sector has witnessed remarkable growth over the past decade, driven by a combination of economic expansion, rising disposable income, and a proactive policy environment. The country's aircraft fleet, which stood at approximately 800 aircraft, is projected to grow multifold within the next 20 years to meet increasing demand. Passenger traffic has surged in tandem, supported by the government's commitment to improving regional connectivity and expanding aviation infrastructure. Notably, the number of operational airports in India has more than doubled from 74 in 2014 to 159 in 2024.

Notice provisions are a necessary part of construction contracts, but they can also be a source of contention.
