A webinar presented by the IBA Water Law Committee part of the IBA Energy, Environment, Natural Resources and Infrastructure Law Section (SEERIL)
Water markets are emerging across the globe. The Nasdaq has listed a water index since 2018, and in late 2020, the Chicago Mercantile Exchange began trading futures contracts under the ticker NQH2O. In Australia, water can be bought and sold in the Murray-Darling Basin on markets – within catchments, between catchments (where possible) or along river systems.
This webinar will provide a summary of emerging water markets and discuss the efficacy of treating water as a commodity. Speakers will include practitioners in this area of law, and investors who pursue water projects.
Speakers:
- Ana Paula Chagas Savin Paiva Advogados, Sao Paulo
- Brendan Clark MinterEllison, Brisbane
- Justice Rodrigo Delaveau Supreme Court of Chile, Santiago
- Francois Joubert Faskens, Johannesburg
